How Winners Of The Boat Race Has Enlightening My Life

I watched the later stages of the Oxford Cambridge men’s boat race and the interviews with members of the winning team. It was a historic day since it was the first time that the Oxford and Cambridge Women’s Team had been allowed to compete on the same stretch of river.
It was a lovely day and there were more spectators than ever.  Lots of people were having a day off from the daily grind and thoroughly enjoying themselves.  Most of them haven’t taken it on board yet that they could be down by the river favourir any day they feel like it or at the beach or wherever their favourite place happens to be.
I will remember that day as a lightbulb moment rather than a boat race.  I must admit that what really stood out for me was a comment from one of the Oxford rowers – when asked how they had managed to succeed once again. I think that his answer  was not only very interesting but it could be very important for all of us who set goals.

I used to believe that visualizing a goal was what separated the winners from the losers, success from failure. Call it the not so secret formula for achieving your goals.

The interviewer obviously had the same idea about visualization. Then the rower said that the magic words that gave me goose bumps.

He said that it was not visualizing the goal – but visualizing the events/challenges leading up to it –  and visualizing yourself dealing with them at various points along the way of your journey to the goal.

Now I am going to re-think my goal setting strategies , but I have a gut feeling that this is really going to work. I believe it will make massive changes in my results and those of anyone else who puts it into action.

Sometimes a small shift in your approach to things can make a massive difference. Maybe it’s time to change your approach to working on-line as well as achieving your goals.   Lots of others have already done so and reaped the rewards – Why Not You?
